Hello, lovelies! 

After a long winter spent inside our house, springtime activities are a must. 

If you are about to start training or have recently started, you will know that starting the gym can be difficult and even uncomfortable. 

As some of you already know, it's been more than three months since I got into the gym. It hasn't been easy, the aches and pains that come with the training sometimes make me want to give up. 

My first days at the gym were terrible because I was not well prepared, so today I want to share with you some tips that will help you not to make the same mistakes as I did.

Overcoming the first workout is the main challenge that you will have and the pain of that day is one of the strongest you will feel along your way through the gym. The reason is that some muscles of the body (that we never exercised) strive beyond normal. That is why we sometimes hear people saying the expression "It hurt parts of my body that I did not know I had"  Hand raised here. That's me! ðŸ™‹

I don't want to scare you, I just want you to be prepared to survive the first few days at the gym and continue to train efficiently.

Here are some useful tips:


1. Have a goal in mind.

So when starting out in the gym it's important to have a goal in mind. What do you want to achieve? And how far are you willing to go?

It's not the same to train to lose weight than to gain it or to build more muscle.
If you want to lose weight, you will have to do cardio exercises. If you want to define your muscles, you will have to work on muscle mass and combine with cardio exercise to eliminate excess fat.

Whatever your goal is, the important thing is that you are clear and realistic about it and talk to your trainer. 

2. Don't forget the warm-up 

This will allow you to work better through your workout. Warming-up before beginning the hard work and stretching is essential to avoid injury and to perform better.
Also, don't forget to stretch when finished: It is important to improve blood circulation, avoid uncomfortable fatigue after all that effort and also long term injuries.

3. Don't overload your body with exercises

The first few days your body will be adapting to the new changes and exercises. Going to the gym three days a week is more than enough, to begin with. The best thing to do is to start with light sessions of cardiovascular exercise like walking, running a little, bicycle, and combine it with basic strength exercises. 

Don't forget that your body will respond to change and the first few days you will experience pain and aches in your muscles.

After suffering from discomfort during my first week of exercise, I did not want to take any chances. Therefore, I always keep a couple of pills on hand for those uncomfortable moments.

4. Watch your diet

Don't we agree that the success of any exercise depends to a large extent on a good balance diet? 
Good nutrition means more than 60% success in a fitness program. So it is very important that we feed properly. We can seek the help of a nutritionist or an expert doctor to establish adequate dietary guidelines for our activity.

Nowadays there are many programs and pages on social networks where we can find recipes and balanced diets based on proteins, moderate carbohydrates and low in fat.

One that I personally have loved are the cauliflower pancakes (little patties of deliciousness), they are nutritious and delicious.

Patties packed with flavor in every little piece. 


These cauliflower pancakes with spinach, accompanied by roasted sweet potatoes and fresh cheese came out delicious and are super easy to prepare.


1 head of cauliflower, cooked and ground
A fist of chopped spinach
2 eggs
1/2 cup grated cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon of coconut oil for pan-frying


1. Cut cauliflower into little florets and add to a food processor. Process on pulse until cauliflower has the texture of large grains. Transfer to a large mixing bowl. 

Note; If you don't have a food processor, you can cook the cauliflower in the microwave. Cut into florets, place in a microwave-safe bowl and cook for about 8 minutes. Take the bowl out the micro, and process to chop the cauliflower with the help of a fork. 

2. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix all ingredients very well.
3. Cover the bottom of a large nonstick skillet generously with the coconut oil and heat over medium heat. With the help of a spoon drop rounded tablespoonfuls of batter of the cauliflower mixture into the skillet and fry 3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. 

Note; Add oil as needed to the pan until all the fritters are cooked

Serve with roasted sweet potatoes and fresh cheese.

5. Always hydrate, and properly

Our body is about 70% water. Thirst is the alarm of the body that is triggered when our body is losing too much liquid. You should drink fluids every 10 to 15 minutes. Do not reach such a place where you are completely dehydrated and your body suffers the consequences.

6. Comfortable clothes

Wear comfortable light clothing and shoes. There are sweat-absorbing gym clothes that work quickly and comfortably when doing high-impact sports or exercise. Don't forget to use your gloves and straps to provide safety when lifting weights, it's so helpful because they absorb sweat and prevent slipping, and help prevent blisters that later become calluses. Ouch ! Plus all the yucky stuff that we have to touch!

Me encanta consentir a mi familia con recetas nuevas para ellos, pero que llevan un especial recuerdo para mí.
Desde pequeña recuerdo cuando mi mamá llegaba del trabajo le gustaba prepararnos alguna comida. No siempre lo hacía, ya que trabajaba casi todo el día y llegaba demasiado cansada. Pero los días en que nos preparaba algo, recuerdo que yo sentía que era el mejor platillo del mundo. Tal vez exageraba, pero el simple hecho de saber que lo había preparado mi mami, me llenaba de emoción, y obvio limpiaba el plato, jejeje !

Esta ensalada de Lentejas Libanesas y Pimientos Rojos con Aguacate, es un platillo que a mi madre le encantaba prepararnos. Es muy fácil y rápido, además de que lleva un ingrediente que nosotras las latinas nunca, pero nunca podemos dejar fuera, Aguacates.

Esta receta es perfecta para esta temporada de verano, para una reunión, o simplemente para disfrutar una tarde fresca con la familia, ya que es una ensalada fría y lleva algunos ingredientes frescos que hacen que esta receta sea fácil de preparar.
Es una excelente y conveniente forma de incorporar Aguacates de México en nuestro menú, ya que que siempre son frescos y siempre en temporada, los aguacates son una adición sabrosa y versátil para agregar más nutrición a nuestros platillos favoritos.


Tiempo de preparación: 10 minutos más refrigeración. Tiempo de cocción: 30 minutos.

Hace de 6 a 8 porciones


1 taza de lentejas cocidas, secas
3/4 taza de pimiento rojo y amarillo, picado
1/3 taza de cebolla morada, picada
2 cucharadas de menta fresca, picada (opcional)
6 cucharadas de aceite de oliva
2 dientes de ajo, picados
1 paquete (8 onzas) de queso feta o queso fresco, desmenuzado
2 Aguacates de México, picados en cubos


1. Coloca las lentejas en una cacerola. Vierte suficiente agua para cubrir las lentejas. Cocina a fuego medio durante 30 minutos o hasta que estén tiernos.
2. Escurre. Transfiere a un cuenco. Agrega el pimiento rojo y amarillo, la menta y la cebolla morada. Refrigera hasta que esté listo para servir.
3. Mezcla el aceite y el ajo. Vierte sobre la mezcla de lentejas; Mezclar ligeramente.
4. Mezcla el queso y el aguacate. Servir y adornar con hojas de menta fresca adicionales, si lo deseas.

Why my breakfast is no longer boring? How I #SnackBrighter with Outshine

I've been working out 5 days a week both at the gym and at home. I do the Gym for one hour and them when the hubby gets home we go out for a 2 or 3-mile walk. Every little bit helps, especially when you're trying to lose the pounds before summer. Celebrating My Kid’s Thing #ItsMyThing #FruitShoot

There is so much pressure on kids to grow up faster, progress at a certain rate, fit into routines and live up to expectations. That we forget to let them be children and enjoy the "things" that they like to do.

He loves his TaeKwoDo classes.

I was surprised to see how dedicated he is because it is a sport that requires much discipline and concentration. And I proudly say that my son does it extremely well.

Taekwondo is not simply a sport that provides an excellent physical condition and good habits of life but also gives dedicated practitioners the opportunity to explore the totality of art, the possibility of reacting effectively to a threat or adverse situation.

And in these times where we see so many dangers in the light of day, being prepared to react to danger is a great advantage.

But although it is a sport that requires a lot of dedication and discipline, I do not like to demand too much, I know that he learns in his way, and he does it very well.

Another activity that he loves is to go explore. My son has a great spirit of explorer and adventurer. He is happy exploring and knowing new places, learning new stories. He really loves being outdoors exploring the world.

After long days of practice, school classes and other days exploring the world, staying home and playing out on the patio with his soccer ball and playing with Max is relaxing. 🐶

It melts my heart to see how they play and have fun together. Max has been an excellent addition to our family. My son spends hours playing with him. 

They really love each other! ♥

How can we save energy and help the environment?

Lighting today consumes about 20% of all the energy produced in the world. It is estimated that by 2040, energy consumption in our homes worldwide will increase by 57%, according to information from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).

1. Us energy-saving bulbs, typically they use about 25%-80% less energy than traditional incandescents, saving you money and can last 3-25 times longer.  
Keep the lights you are not using, off.

2. Make the most of natural light by opening the curtains and keeping the glass clean. Increasing the amount of natural light in your home can reduce your heating and lighting costs. It can also make a room feel bigger.

3. When not using your computer, leave it hibernating (sleep), not on. In this mode it consumes less energy and can be easily reactivated without restarting the system.
When buying a monitor for your PC or some other computer equipment,  prefer those that include the "Energy Star" symbol, which is the most efficient.

Dirty Laundry

Try not to use high wash temperatures since the washing cycle at 90 ° C consumes almost twice as much energy as the 60 ° C and four times more than the 40 ° C.

Much of the energy used by a washing machine, between 80 and 85%, uses it to heat the water, so it is very important to wash, whenever possible, with low-temperature programs or just cold water. If the dirt does not allow it, use warm water. For the clothes with more difficult stains, you can use the special stain remover soaps, before beginning the washing. 

Turn off appliances to reduce consumption

The use of equipment such as television, computers, appliances and video games, consume 40% of the energy in the home, so it is recommended to disconnect them from the electric current when not in use.

All appliances not used for extended periods of time, such as coffee makers, microwaves, chargers, game consoles, blenders, and toasters.
