My grandma is almost 94 years old and still going strong, and, although she is a self-sufficient woman, her age and her dementia, has made us have an even more special treatment with her. Don't get me wrong, she was already special, because, well because she is my grandmother and she deserves all the best in this world. So making healthy food choices, establishing good habits and learning how to treat and talk to her is important for me and my family.

We have learned along the way that we have to find the right balance of what is motivation and positive support without being interpreted as criticism and nuisance. An older person can interpret things differently, so it is important to know how to choose the words that we are going to use to talk to them.

As I said my grandmother suffers from dementia and her changes of understanding can vary from minute to minute, she easily forgets something that was said minutes ago and must be repeated, sometimes up to 10 times. But we try not to get discouraged, we can definitely be a source of help and motivation to her. 

Society tends to exclude and forget about the elderly, and they themselves seem in many cases inclined to corner themselves in the tail van, that of the less active. - So let's stop this nonsense. Let us make them feel important, let's treat them with kindness and affection.

Today I want to share with you an Easy Guide on How to treat an elderly person. These steps have helped us a lot to understand her better and make her feel happy.


1. Establish a relationship and communicate

Communicate with the elderly person you live with. Communication is the most essential element of every relationship. If there is no communication, you won't know the problems and concerns of the other. As a consequence, you will not be able to establish a relationship of respect and trust.

2. Learn from them and their points of view

Respect the person as an individual. Don't treat them like a child. Older people have experienced life with a much greater depth than we usually appreciate, and have lived many more experiences in life. Ask him some questions about his life, what he thinks and what he cares about, tell them to show you photos. You'll be surprised in how much you can learn from them.  I'm sure you'd love their stories.

3. Supports their autonomy.

The mere fact that they are an elderly person should not make you assume that they are not able nor can they handle their own affairs, even if you do not agree with them. Allow them to make their own decisions and don't impose your own opinion over theirs.  All adults are able to make some decisions (or even all) on their own; Therefore, help the to improve their ability to do things and make decisions on their own as often as possible. Make them feel self-sufficient.

4. Know their food needs.

Like their consumption of sugar or salt. Older people often have strict diets, but they are tempted to break them, just like us. Watch for their well-being and consult with their doctor to find out what is the best food choices for them.

How to entertain the kids this summer

We are a pretty active family. My kids have lots of activities during the school days. Lots of projects, homework, school sports, tryouts, presentations, schools dances, etc.  And then, we have the after school sports, of course. Taekwondo for my kiddo and he loves playing soccer, and pretty much everything he can think of, he wants to do. That's their "thing" you know, they like to participate in every school activity they can, and of course, I support them. (proud momma here)

I want to have some fun with my family, lots of activities and playing outside. Enjoying every day and moment with my love ones.

So how do we have lots of family activities and how do I actually entertain the kids? 

Don't worry, there are ways to entertain the kids this summer. There are many options for summer activities that we can carry out and you know what momma, they don't have to be expensive, in fact, there are many options that are totally free. I'll share with you some tips my family has implemented to have fun during school summer vacations.

First of all, learn what your kid(s) like to do. You know, learn what's their 'Thing" 

Do they love the outdoors? Do they enjoy books? Are they happy chasing a ball? Do they like surfing the waves?  That's the key to knowing how to entertain them this summer.

Do you have a patio? Make a camp

Get creative with boxes

Whatever you can get from your home.  Invite your child's friends to participate. Let them know that this will be a competition and that they have to come prepared with comfortable clothes. Prepare some prizes for the end of the race, make them feal like they are all winners. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una deliciosa receta de pescado empapelado con vegetales. El pescado es tan versátil que lo puedes prepara de muchísimas maneras, pero sin duda una de mis favoritas es empapelado

Además, las ventajas de comer pescado son excelentes, ya que contiene un alto contenido de Omega 3 y proteínas.

Así que si buscas una manera de cuidarte este próximo verano, aquí tienes una deliciosa receta saludable para iniciar.

Receta de pescado empapelado con vegetales


4 o 5 Filetes de pescado puedes usar cualquiera, el que más te guste.
2 pimientos de los colores que prefieras, Yo utilice rojo y amarillo.
1 cebolla fileteada.
2 jitomates en rodajas.

-Un puñado de espinacas.
-Sal y pimienta.
-Mantequilla para todos los filetes
-Papel aluminio


1. Sal-pimienta los filetes de pescado por ambos lados.
2. Unta un cuadro de papel aluminio con mantequilla y coloca un filete de pescado, agrega una cama de las verduras previamente picados (vegetales). Dobla para formar paquetitos.
3. Coloca los paquetitos sobre una sartén (bandeja).
4. Pon a fuego medio por 25 min o hasta que el pescado se desmenuce fácilmente con un tenedor. Puedes poner una tapa para ayudar a guardar el calor y permitir que se distribuya uniformemente.

Puedes acompañar con arroz y ensalada o bien pepinos.

Hello, lovelies! 

After a long winter spent inside our house, springtime activities are a must. 

If you are about to start training or have recently started, you will know that starting the gym can be difficult and even uncomfortable. 

As some of you already know, it's been more than three months since I got into the gym. It hasn't been easy, the aches and pains that come with the training sometimes make me want to give up. 

My first days at the gym were terrible because I was not well prepared, so today I want to share with you some tips that will help you not to make the same mistakes as I did.

Overcoming the first workout is the main challenge that you will have and the pain of that day is one of the strongest you will feel along your way through the gym. The reason is that some muscles of the body (that we never exercised) strive beyond normal. That is why we sometimes hear people saying the expression "It hurt parts of my body that I did not know I had"  Hand raised here. That's me! 🙋

I don't want to scare you, I just want you to be prepared to survive the first few days at the gym and continue to train efficiently.

Here are some useful tips:


1. Have a goal in mind.

So when starting out in the gym it's important to have a goal in mind. What do you want to achieve? And how far are you willing to go?

It's not the same to train to lose weight than to gain it or to build more muscle.
If you want to lose weight, you will have to do cardio exercises. If you want to define your muscles, you will have to work on muscle mass and combine with cardio exercise to eliminate excess fat.

Whatever your goal is, the important thing is that you are clear and realistic about it and talk to your trainer. 

2. Don't forget the warm-up 

This will allow you to work better through your workout. Warming-up before beginning the hard work and stretching is essential to avoid injury and to perform better.
Also, don't forget to stretch when finished: It is important to improve blood circulation, avoid uncomfortable fatigue after all that effort and also long term injuries.

3. Don't overload your body with exercises

The first few days your body will be adapting to the new changes and exercises. Going to the gym three days a week is more than enough, to begin with. The best thing to do is to start with light sessions of cardiovascular exercise like walking, running a little, bicycle, and combine it with basic strength exercises. 

Don't forget that your body will respond to change and the first few days you will experience pain and aches in your muscles.

4. Watch your diet

Don't we agree that the success of any exercise depends to a large extent on a good balance diet? 
Good nutrition means more than 60% success in a fitness program. So it is very important that we feed properly. We can seek the help of a nutritionist or an expert doctor to establish adequate dietary guidelines for our activity.

Nowadays there are many programs and pages on social networks where we can find recipes and balanced diets based on proteins, moderate carbohydrates and low in fat.

One that I personally have loved are the cauliflower pancakes (little patties of deliciousness), they are nutritious and delicious.

Patties packed with flavor in every little piece. 


These cauliflower pancakes with spinach, accompanied by roasted sweet potatoes and fresh cheese came out delicious and are super easy to prepare.


1 head of cauliflower, cooked and ground
A fist of chopped spinach
2 eggs
1/2 cup grated cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon of coconut oil for pan-frying


1. Cut cauliflower into little florets and add to a food processor. Process on pulse until cauliflower has the texture of large grains. Transfer to a large mixing bowl. 

Note; If you don't have a food processor, you can cook the cauliflower in the microwave. Cut into florets, place in a microwave-safe bowl and cook for about 8 minutes. Take the bowl out the micro, and process to chop the cauliflower with the help of a fork. 

2. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix all ingredients very well.
3. Cover the bottom of a large nonstick skillet generously with the coconut oil and heat over medium heat. With the help of a spoon drop rounded tablespoonfuls of batter of the cauliflower mixture into the skillet and fry 3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. 

Note; Add oil as needed to the pan until all the fritters are cooked

Serve with roasted sweet potatoes and fresh cheese.

5. Always hydrate, and properly

Our body is about 70% water. Thirst is the alarm of the body that is triggered when our body is losing too much liquid. You should drink fluids every 10 to 15 minutes. Do not reach such a place where you are completely dehydrated and your body suffers the consequences.

6. Comfortable clothes

Wear comfortable light clothing and shoes. There are sweat-absorbing gym clothes that work quickly and comfortably when doing high-impact sports or exercise. Don't forget to use your gloves and straps to provide safety when lifting weights, it's so helpful because they absorb sweat and prevent slipping, and help prevent blisters that later become calluses. Ouch ! Plus all the yucky stuff that we have to touch!
